Coyotes have been in this area for several years! Only fish and wildlife can respond to problem coyote complaints. Towns can only take action against coyotes that are caught in the act of attacking persons or pets. The towns can not take preemptive action against coyotes!

Yes, the department will remove dead animal carcasses from ways open to public travel. The officers will remove dead pet carcasses from pet owners property for a fee.

Yes. Non-cash gifts such as food, treats, blankets, returnable cans, etc. can be dropped off at the shelter any day between 3:00 - 4:00 P.M. Gifts of funds should be by check or money order made payable to "Dog gift acct." P.O. Box 249, East Weymouth, Ma. 02189-0249 Over the past five years with funds donated from our caring supporters we have been able to remodel the shelter with insulation/paneling, dropped ceilings, new electrical, plumbing, painting, fence repair, new roof system and have air conditioned 1/3 of the shelter!

Dog licenses are valid January first through December thirty one of the year of issue! A valid license and rabies tag MUST be worn on the dog at ALL times. Failure to comply will result in fines up to $75.00 per offense!

The officers can destroy wildlife only under certain specific conditions. The wildlife animal must be sick, on the ground and in the open. Local dog officers/police officers have no powers which enable them to handle problem wildlife animals! The state fish and wildlife division has licensed problem wildlife agents for this purpose. They DO charge for their services!
