St. Mary of the Hills School prides itself on helping students achieve personal excellence--spiritual, academic and social.
Prayer and spirituality is a celebration of our Catholic faith. We strive to make our Masses engaging and relevant to the youth. Mrs. Etienne, the faculty advisor for the Liturgical Dance Troupe, stresses to all the students that Liturgical Dance is not a recital. It is not about the students. “This is a very special way to praise God. Through your movements and actions you might touch someone’s heart.”
The Mission Statement calls for students to strive for “personal academic excellence.” At St. Mary’s this consists of strengthening traditional academic knowledge—while exhibiting positive attitude, model conduct, and unwavering effort. In addition to a traditional academic Honor Roll, St. Mary’s offers a St. Francis Award for students in Grades 1-4 and an ACE Award for students in Grades 5-8 as a means of recognizing students Attitude, Conduct, and Effort.
Community building is an important aspect of life at St. Mary’s. Monthly events bring together students, parents, and faculty in an effort to provide philanthropy, entertainment, and fundraising. From a welcome-back-to-school picnic for families, to a read-a-thon and an evening out for our Middle School students, to an adult get-together--St. Mary’s is full of life and enthusiasm!
